Apr 18, 2017

Since 1947, Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems Inc. (Ultra) has been delivering sophisticated, cost-effective, and innovative solutions to the defense, aerospace, and industrial markets across Canada, as well as internationally. Known for being a long-time leader in the design and manufacture of sonobuoys, Ultra has produced almost three million units to date. Ultra also designs, develops, and manufactures state-of-the-art active and passive sonar systems offering warships and submarines superior detection, classification, and localization abilities of modern threats. Ultra also produces Magneto-Inductive (MI) technology, including DiverCOMM™ and TerraCOMM™.

Additionally, Ultra works with the South Korean navy with our world class sonobuoys, Free Flooded Rings (FFRs), and acoustic transducers. We are also working with the Royal Navy, New Zealand Navy, and Royal Australian Navy to supply them with our sonar systems.

Significantly, our Multi-static Active Passive Sonar (MAPS) system has now entered operational service with the Dutch Navy. At home, Ultra’s relationship with the Canadian military continues to strengthen, as we increase our activity to support towed arrays for Canada’s Victoria class submarines and to develop and manufacture next generation multi-static sonobuoys for the Aurora. We have formed Team Triton through strategic teaming with General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada (GDC) and Raytheon Canada in pursuit of the Underwater Warfare Suite Upgrade (UWSU) program to enable Canada’s Halifax frigate meet the underwater threats of the 21st century.

Ultra delivers the technologies, systems, and solutions that will make Canadian aircraft and warships more aware, connected, protected, and ready to fight. World class solutions are developed, manufactured, supported, and in future, upgraded... right here in Canada and for Canada.
