Naval Group has been busy showcasing its state-of-the-art innovations for modern navies at major trade shows around the world. The global shipbuilder and marine engineering giant has been demonstrating key capabilities in modern military ship and submarine building plus its high tech solutions for systems and competence as a leading naval integrator.

Belh@rra Combat Ship
The Belharra is the new combat ship designed for naval supremacy and crisis management for navies looking for a compact frigate able to perform a wide range of missions (stand-alone or within a task force) for either shallow water or high sea operation in congested and contested operational environments. Based on operational lessons acquired in wartime situations, this “digital frigate” features high level capabilities in anti-air, anti-surface, anti-submarine and asymmetric warfare domains.

Digital Combat Bridge & Ship Design Lab
Naval Group is innovating in the field of Asymmetric Threat Control by strengthening tactical situation control under all weather conditions with 360° vision. Responding to the needs of naval customers, Naval Group has created a giant interactive digital environment to present customer-specific solutions in immersive settings. The demonstrator provides an intuitive and ergonomic representation of the situation at sea plus tools for taking quick and decisive action in the face of threats. The interactive application creates different scenarios and combines technological options through predefined sketches, allowing navies to conceive a ship based on their specific needs.

SMX 31 Submarine – concept design
Naval Group presents a disruptive submarine to serve a new vision of combat. It has new sensors, a new coating and allows for the use of drones. The Electric can help navies gather and share valuable intelligence without ever being detected thanks to the powerful acoustic, optronic and electromagnetic sensors. It is capable of acting firmly using powerful new generation weapons. It presents several assets including the extreme stealth when submerged, the increased invulnerability against modern weapons, the energy autonomy and its endurance.

Developed for the French Navy to respond to evolving threats, Naval Group has designed and is building the Barracuda, the latest generation of strategic submarine. In 2016, Australia’s Sea Future Program also chose Naval Group for a cooperative building of 12 submarines from the Barracuda family design. Another high profile submarine, the Scorpene, is capable of carrying out all types of missions, such as surface vessel warfare, anti-submarine warfare, long-range strikes, special operations or intelligence gathering. It is extremely stealthy and fast, and is equipped with weapon launching tubes, and various weapons (torpedoes, missiles, mines). More than a dozen Scorpene submarines have been sold internationally.

F21 Heavy-Weight Torpedo
The French navy’s heavy-weight torpedo offers advanced self-guided mode for shallow and confined water capabilities. The aluminum silver oxide technology allows longer range than today’s standard and maximum available speed. For maximum safety, the F21 is designed to never explode on-board a submarine even in case of fire on a platform or accidental firing.
