Davie shipyard management sent this message in response to Minister of Public Services and Procurement, Judy M. Foote, and Minister of National Defence, Harjit Singh Sajjan, announcement on equipping the Navy with an interim auxiliary oil replenishment capacity:

Recognizing the importance of this program, we have been hard at work for several months ensuring we meet the needs of the Royal Canadian Navy. We are pleased that the new government has recognized the importance that Canada’s largest shipbuilder plays for the Canadian Armed Forces. We look forward to developing this and other projects with Prime Minister Trudeau’s government over the coming years and reinforcing our position as a force multiplier in the domestic shipbuilding industry. We would like to especially thank the government of Quebec for their continued support of Davie and their impetus in the shipbuilding industry with Quebec’s Maritime Strategy.

John Schmidt
Vice-President, Commercial
Chantier Davie Canada Inc.
